From the Hotel you have to walk about two km to Portugalete where we will take the "bike path" (BIDEGORRI). We follow the path that goes along the bike path, indicated by the official wooden post with the indication "La Arena 10 km". There is an alternative route that enters Ortuella.
During the march, we will see Mount Serantes, at its top there is an abandoned fort from the early eighteenth century and a telecommunications tower that looks at the sea and the old mining landscape of the area.
We arrive in Gallarta where there is a museum dedicated to mining. Leaving Gallarta we make out the summit of Montaño. The Jacobean itinerary passes under the A-8 and exits the bike path for a stretch to retrieve it later.
On the right there are some orchards in the Kardeo neighborhood. In a gentle descent we arrive at the Arena beach, between the mouth of the Barbadun river and the Punta Lucero mountain, at its top there is an old military barracks, the remains of anti-aircraft batteries and several cannons.
The beach is shared by the municipalities of Zierbena and Muskiz. You have to walk to the left, crossing an area of dunes and a stretch of beach, after crossing the bridge over the Barbadun river, we reach Pobeña. Leaving aside the hermitage of Nuestra Señora del Socorro, patron saint of Pobeña. In the car park, the Camino de Santiago continues to the right along a steep flight of stairs that leads to ITSASLUR.
To go to the hostel you have to continue straight towards the center of Pobeña. It is the last hostel in the province, also managed by the Agrupación de Hospitaleros Voluntarios for Bizkaia.
